Membrane filtration plays a key role in water treatment, especially when high purity is required. This filtration process consists of the separation of two water flows, the permeate (purified water) and the concentrate (containing impurity and salts). Mainstream desalination technology is reverse osmosis (RO), while for the removal of different contaminants from water and wastewater, pressure-driven microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF) are used.
Working with such tight tolerances and fine membranes means there are numerous maintenance requirements. These include issues relating to the impurities in the water including scaling, fouling and chemical attack.
A S Harrison & Co is the exclusive distributor of American Water Chemicals Inc (AWC) within Australia & New Zealand with staff certified to Reverse Osmosis Specialist Level 2 by ASMS.
The full range service offer
Together with AWC, we offer a full range of services.
- Chemical supply
- Software simulations
- Engineering advice
- Membrane autopsy
Within our product range, our clients can find membrane antiscalants, antifoulants and cleaning chemicals. In addition to this, we can provide analytical services for reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration and microfiltration. Part of this analytical service includes AWC’s ROSSEP process.
The ROSSEP process is a lab simulation, which has been proven as a reliable method for validating and optimising membrane antiscalant dosages for given water analysis. It will reduce your optimisation time and significantly increase productivity.
