Waste Treatment

The use of microorganisms to degrade waste is an established practice in wastewater treatment plants. However, the population of naturally occurring microorganisms is sometimes unable to keep up with the waste supply. A sudden surge in contaminants or filamentous bacteria can overload a system. Cold weather can slow microbial activity, decelerating waste degradation. A low oxygen supply can also hinder efficient treatment processes and increase odors. Adding targeted microorganisms and biostimulants during wastewater treatment, more often during secondary stages, supports the growth of a healthy microbial population that can keep up with the supply of contaminants and restore system balance.

Waterwater Treatment Plant Solutions

A S Harrison & Co helps wastewater treatment plants function more efficiently and avoid plant upsets or imbalances by providing a tailored approach to supplementing microorganisms in the system. For example, specialised microbes that tolerate cool temperatures can be used to boost efficiency during cold weather or early spring startups. A shock dose of biological products can be added to correct plant upsets. Regular maintenance doses can be used to keep the system in healthy balance and reduce sludge buildup over time.

Industrial Discharge Solutions

A S Harrison & Co can help industries meet their allowable discharge amount to avoid extra fees for releasing high levels of contaminated wastewater. Chemical plants, food processing operations, oil refineries, and automotive facilities can cut down on their levels of BOD by regularly adding Bionetix® biologicals to their wastewater before it leaves the plant. Institutions can also improve drain flow and grease trap efficiency with Bionetix® biologicals that cut down on odors and speed up the breakdown of tough contaminants such as fats, oils, and greases (FOG). We supply a wide variety of biological waste treatment products that can be targeted to specific types of waste or contaminant buildup problems for maximum effectiveness. Designed to enhance water biology in septic systems by adding a boost of one trillion beneficial bacteria per tablet to the septic system. Bacteria and bacterial enzyme strains in BIOBOOSTER 1T™ are effective at biodegrading organic material comprised of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. BIOBOOSTER 1T™ also reduces septic tank pumping frequency by minimizing the amount of sludge in the tank. It is especially efficient for replenishing a healthy biological environment in the septic system after toxic shock induced by the use of strong bleaches or other harmful chemicals (e.g., root killers to remove roots in pipelines).
Contains micronutrients in a stable soluble and bioavailable form that makes them easily accessible to microorganisms. Lack of micronutrients leads to a decrease in biogas plant efficiency, while the addition of BIOGAS BOOSTER 3™ can improve biogas production during digestion of organic waste.
Brings together two of our best hydrocarbon-degrading technologies, BIOSURF™ and BCP35S™, into a kit for spill cleanups. SPILL KIT 35S™ contains beneficial microorganisms that rapidly degrade a wide range of hydrocarbons.
Slow releasing block that contains surfactants and bacteria that loosen, liquefy, and biodegrade heavy grease deposits for oily sump maintenance.
Contains specialty penetrants and surfactants that loosen and liquefy heavy grease deposits in grease traps and lift stations, thereby assisting in their biodegradation and saving on grease disposal costs.
Contains strains of bacteria that biodegrade phenol and related aromatic compounds such as cumene, catechol, and cresol. This is helpful for wastewater coming from steel coking, coal conversion, petroleum cracking, and the production of plastic resins and pharmaceuticals. Blend of bacteria, yeast, enzymes, and nutrients that will naturally accelerate the breakdown of household and agricultural organic wastes in composting processes.
Enhances and accelerates the biological digestion of animal wastes (i.e., manure). It is proven effective in helping to reduce odors and sludge accumulations.
Contains strains of bacteria to perform under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions to biodegrade organic material comprised of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and select hydrocarbons for lagoon treatment. Bioaugmentation with BCP60™ can reduce sludge and odors, improve effluent, and accelerate startup.
Efficient for wastes from pulp and paper industries. It decreases BOD and TSS in effluent and increases the efficiency of overloaded treatment systems. Bioaugmentation with BCP57™ accelerates the degradation of unpleasant odors associated with handling these wastes. BCP57™ also helps reseed after plant upset.
Provides greater resistance to the organic inhibitors present in fruit, vegetable, and wine processing. It helps reduce grease buildup, control filaments, improve effluent quality, and decrease odors.
Contains a special bacterial blend that degrades starch and increases wastewater treatment efficiency. BCP55™ reduces foam, unpleasant odors, and concentrations of BOD and TSS. It can be used to reseed after a plant upset or help new plants with startup.
Designed to improve water quality in decorative ponds and aquaculture applications such as fish and shrimp farms. BCP54™ helps improve effluent quality by reducing organic waste, sludge, pH, odors, ammonia, and various toxins. It also reduces excessive nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, thus counteracting the nutrient pollution that leads to algae growth. BCP54™ will work at low oxygen levels since it contains both aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria.
Contains strains of bacteria to biodegrade organic material comprised of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and select hydrocarbons in municipal activated sludge. This basic formula is efficient in municipal wastewater treatment to improve water quality and enhance activity of microorganisms—especially important during reseeding and startup. BCP50™ can also help to reduce sludge and odors where needed and can be applied in colder temperatures.
Formulated for soil bioremediation and is most efficient when used with BIOSURF™. BCP35S™ contains organisms that will degrade a wide range of refinery hydrocarbons such as gasoline, diesel, crude oil, benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene in soils. Bioaugmentation with BCP35S™ can deep clean soils, reduce pollution liability, and lower disposal costs.
Degrades petroleum products by enhancing BOD and COD removal, while improving sludge settlement. It also helps remove oil deposits and prevent scum formation in holding tanks, sewers, drains, and aeration basins. BCP35M™ accelerates the breakdown of unpleasant odors associated with handling oil wastes and can be used in petroleum refinery applications and for cleanup of oil spills.
Blend of bacteria and enzymes for increasing the efficiency of treating dairy industry wastewater. BCP25™ improves effluent quality, reduces grease build-up, helps control filaments, and lowers odor and foam. It is also helpful in the startup of new plants.
