A S Harrison & Co offer an extensive range of bitumen additives which provide a wide array of properties for all sorts of applications.
One critical aspect to the service time of roads is the adhesion between aggregate and bitumen. By adding adhesion promoters to the mix, it improves the adhesion between aggregate & bitumen whilst also having the ability to increase hardness, softening point & improves deformation resistance.
Bitumen emulsions provide a range of benefits overheated and cutback forms. Emulsifying bitumen allows you to reduce the viscosity without the need to continuously heat the product.
Bitumen emulsions are easier to handle as the diluent is water, not a volatile petrochemical solvent. The reduction in Volatile Organic Carbon (VOC) not only decreases the environmental impact of the product, but the lower volatility helps to reduce the storage and transportation costs.
- Cationic rapid setting emulsifier – are used to produce emulsion’s which are designed to react quickly with aggregate and revert from the emulsion state to bitumen.
- Cationic slow setting emulsifier – are used to produce slow-setting emulsion’s which are designed for maximum mixing stability.
- Amphoteric emulsifier – are used to produce stable emulsions in low temperatures and can be applied with cold and damp aggregates.
Reduces the viscosity of warm mix asphalt, whilst increases hardness & softening point and improving deformation resistance.
